Volunteers Needed! 

Please contact  Rear Commodore Max Hurst for OCYC dockside and land positions 
and OCMTC to volunteer fishing / boating / crew

FFK 2025:  It was a beautiful day to be on the water when the OCYC and OCM&TC hosted their 30th annual Fishing For Kids Day on June 15 th .

Thirty-five families from three local charitable organizations (Big Brothers/Big Sisters of SJ, the Variety Club Camp in Phila, and the Horsham Challenger League) arrived at the OCYC early on the morning to board one of the 28 sports fishing boats that were captained by members of the OCYC and OCM&TC. Then off they went in search of flounder and sea bass in the waters behind Ocean City. When they returned to the Club to clean their fish, they we greeted with tee shirts and a delicious buffet lunch and time in the shade to relive their adventure.

The day on the water provided a much need break and bonding time for the entire family, resulting in wonderful memories for the kids and their families.  There were plenty of fish and of course lots of smiles !

Many thanks to the 50+ members of the two Clubs who donated their time either in their boats or on the dock. And special thanks to Nobil Catering, Mallons, OC Sailing Foundation, OC Exchange Club, and St Peter’s Church for their support.

June 16, 2025:  Fishing for Kids is more than a day on the water. It’s a celebration of inclusion, compassion, and community for children with disabilities and their families.  

This unforgettable event in Ocean City, NJ wouldn’t be possible without the incredible leadership of the Hurst & Walters Family, the support of the Ocean City Marlin & Tuna Club, Ocean City Yacht Club, and our partners at the Police Department, Fire Department, and Coast Guard.

To the amazing captains and crews who generously shared their time and boats especially on Father’s Day…Thank You!!! Your compassion created a ripple effect that touched every family, volunteer, and child involved.  Together, you made a day of fishing so much more! It was a day where every child felt seen, celebrated, and included.

Thank you for spreading joy across the bay....


For the past 33 years, the Ocean City Yacht Club and the Ocean City Marlin and Tuna Club have invited families from local charitable organizations to enjoy a day of fishing on our local Ocean City waters.

These organizations provide meaningful support to kids and their families who navigate physical, mental, or financial circumstances.

The day on the water provides a much need break and bonding time for the entire family, resulting in wonderful memories for the kids and their families.  And of course lots of smiles !
